Mohegan Lake resident ToniAnn Rosado was sentenced to a term of two to six years in prison on Friday, Sept. 27 for stealing more than $340,000 from North Castle-based paint company CR Wallauer & Company, Inc., the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
According to the DA's Office, in her role as the company's controller, Rosado stole $341,707.54 between July 7, 2017, and Aug. 9, 2019.
Additionally, she also falsified business records to hide the fact that she stole the funds between Jan. 2 and March 29, 2019.
After the company's owners found the fraud, Rosado was fired in August 2019. Years later, she was arrested in Orlando, Florida in June 2022 by US Marshalls with help from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office's Fugitive Unit and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety’s Warrant Fugitive Unit.
She pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records in April.
"This defendant exploited her role overseeing finances for a business that entrusted her with this important responsibility," Westchester County DA Miriam Rocah said about the case.
Rocah continued: "This case outcome underscores our commitment to prosecuting financial crimes across the county, as well as our continued work to secure restitution on behalf of individuals and businesses.”
